The Sowers Creed

The Sower’s Creed: Rooted in God, Reaching for Man

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day,

When He spoke to me of a seed —

A seed planted among men,

A treasure hidden in plain sight,

Yet none took notice.

Silent and forgotten,

It slept beneath the noise of life.

Then He spoke of a tree,

Rooted deep and rising bold into the heavens,

Its mighty arms offering rest to the weary,

A shelter for the broken, a shade for the burdened,

And many found life beneath its branches.

And He showed me a farmer —

Bent by the labor of love,

Weeding, watering, nurturing barren ground,

While the mockers laughed from the edges:

“Can anything good come from this wasteland?”

As they once sneered at Nazareth’s name.

Yet he pressed on,

With calloused hands and a tender hope,

Believing, against thorns and stones,

That beauty still slumbered beneath the dust.

And the Lord whispered to him:

“Do not grow weary in well-doing,

For in due season, if you do not faint,

You shall surely reap.”

Worn by the long seasons of waiting,

The sower lifted his eyes to the heavens and sighed: s

“Lord, is this the time?

Will You mend this weary land?

Will You restore the Kingdom to Your people at last?

And the Lord answered:

“It is not for you to know the times or seasons

Which I have placed under my own authority.”

Tend your garden.

Prepare your heart.

Fix your hands to the plow,

Leave the seasons to Me.

And the Lord taught me this:

That He is not glorified

When men act as gods among men,

Wearing crowns they were never asked to bear,

Just to prove they are sent.

No —

The greatest glory a man can give to God

Is to be human among humans:

To eat their bread,

To weep their sorrows,

To share their burdens,

To speak their tongue,

To feel their wounds.

Thus, let the man of God be rigid in his stand with God,

But flexible in standing with God’s people.

Let the sent one carry himself as one who knows,

Who has tasted and seen,

And is persuaded beyond the whispers of doubt.

Let him walk, not with noise,

But with the quiet conviction of whom he has believed.

Yet know this also:

“You shall speak all these words to them,”

“But they will not obey;”

“You shall call to them,”

“But they will not answer.”

Even so —

The solid foundation of God stands firm,

Sealed with this unbroken vow:

“The Lord knows those who are His,”

And,

“Let everyone who names the name of the Lord turn away from wickedness.”

Thus, let the man of God know his God —

And let him be known by Him.

For though the seed sleeps unseen,

The day will come —

When the harvest will sing,

And the Sower’s Creed will shine like the morning sun.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,

that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
