I Have Served And I Will Be OF Service

I Have Served, and I’ll Be of Service
A Poetic Narrative of Allegiance
Prologue — Romans 8:28–39
And we know that all things work together for good,
To them that love God,
To them who are the called according to His purpose.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined,
To be conformed to the image of His Son.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
Or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Nay, in all these things,
We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
For I am persuaded,
That neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
Nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
Shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
Which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Narrative – I have served, and I’ll be of service.
I have served—
Not as one who bargains for a crown,
But as one who has beheld His glory
And cannot unsee the Light.
I have seen mercy walk among men,
Heard Wisdom whisper in the dark,
Felt Grace take my trembling hand
And lead me past the grave.
So what is death to me now?
A shadow that falls, then flees at dawn.
I die daily, and in dying, I live.
Each breath—an altar;
Each step—a vow renewed.
I have been counted for slaughter
And yet found song in the valley of bones.
For my Redeemer lives,
And in His living, I stand unshaken.
Like Esther, I have made my peace:
If I perish, I perish.
For silence is sin
When truth burns within.
How can I but speak
Of the wonders I have both heard and seen—
The mercy that chased me,
The Love that found me first?
He called me,
And my soul answered with service.
Not with mere lips,
But with life laid low at His feet.
Let the world turn its back,
Let kingdoms rise and crumble,
Let flesh grow weary,
Still I’ll be of service.
For I am His—
Sealed not by title or toil,
But by the tenderness of His scars.
So I serve, not as one who seeks applause,
But as one who’s tasted purpose,
And found it sweet as morning dew.
If the road is rough,
I walk still,
For He is the way,
And I, His witness.
Not even death shall part us,
For death has lost its sting.
My allegiance is not in fear,
But in faith—
Faith that builds altars from ashes
And finds resurrection in ruin.
Yes, I have served,
And I’ll be of service still.
For my life is not mine own,
But His,
Who loved me
And gave Himself for me.
Epilogue — Habakkuk 3:17–18
Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Neither shall fruit be in the vines;
The labor of the olive shall fail,
And the fields yield no meat;
The flock shall be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls:
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
